1909
Heinrich Vollmer built the first saw setting machines and filing machines back in 1909. His vision: Maximum sharpening for cutting tools and saw blades. We have been achieving this vision here at VOLLMER with gusto for more than 100 years. Successfully – and with continued passion.
1916
VOLLMER is one of the first companies in the region to enter into an apprenticeship contract with a young person. The apprenticeship is therefore almost as old as the company itself, and is an important part of company culture still today.
1923
VOLLMER presents a method revolutionary for its time of machining band saw, gang saw and circular saw blades – the first C type series sharpening machine with a rotating grinding wheel.
1952
Perhaps the best example of the "Made in Germany" seal of quality resurrected by VOLLMER after World War I is the development of the Cana diamond. This proposal for the machining of carbide-tipped circular saw blades sees the start of a new line of business, set to play a major role in the following decades.
1959
A brand new chapter begins:
VOLLMER develops a pinsetter machine. VOLLMER still enjoys the highest level of recognition among amateur and competitive skittles players, even though the line of business has been discontinued.
1976
VOLLMER OF AMERICA is founded.
1979
VOLLMER FRANCE is founded on July 1st, 1979.
1980
VOLLMER DO BRASIL is founded in August and VOLLMER UK in November 1980.
1988
VOLLMER develops an innovative range of machines for the erosion of diamond-tipped tools for the woodworking industry. While the R&D capacities continue to increase, this investment seeks to achieve growth via more advanced technology.
1998
VOLLMER presents a new wire erosion machine and enters the metalworking industry with this new technology.
In January, VOLLMER ITALIA is founded.
2000
VOLLMER JAPAN is founded in May.
2002
VOLLMER ESPANA starts in April 2002.
2003
VOLLMER increases its global service offering and evolves from being purely a production company to a modern and innovative technology and service provider.
2004
With VOLLMER CHINA, another production site is constructed in Taicang in addition to the second Asian subsidiary.
2006
VOLLMER expands the sales cooperation with Loroch GmbH in Mörlenbach, drawn up in 1994, with the development and production of sharpening machines for machining carbide-tipped circular saw blades. This move completes VOLLMER's extensive range of saw machining products for both the woodworking and metalworking industries.
2008
VOLLMER AUSTRIA is founded on 1st January 2008.
2009
VOLLMER celebrates its centenary and inaugurates the newly created Technology and Training Centre at the headquarters in Biberach.
2010
VOLLMER draws up a sales cooperation with GERLING Automation GmbH in Aspach, Baden-Wuerttemberg – specialist for the development and production of automation solutions for tool manufacture.
2012
VOLLMER POLSKA is founded on January 1st, 2012.
2013
VOLLMER INDIA is founded in April 2013.
2014
With the new VGrind grinding machine for carbide tools, VOLLMER enters the market for tool grinding.
VOLLMER SCANDINAVIA is then founded in May.
2016
Foundation of VOLLMER RUSSIA and SOUTH KOREA.
2019
THE SIEGLINDE VOLLMER AWARD
In 2019, the Sieglinde Vollmer Foundation will award prizes for the first time to young inventors, researchers and doers as well as initiatives in the field of mathematics, information technology, natural sciences and technology (MINT). Since then, the prize has been awarded every two years.
2022
Since 1 July 2022, VOLLMER has taken a majority stake in the start-up ultraTEC innovation GmbH. Since 2019, ultraTEC has been represented on the market with its ultrasonic deburring systems and intends to expand its economic and sales development together with VOLLMER.
2022
Sieglinde Vollmer, was appointed honorary citizen of the city of Biberach an der Riß on 24 October 2022.
This is the first time in 100 years that the city council has honoured an outstanding woman for her great life's work in Biberach.
2022
VOLLMER's 15th subsidiary founded in Thailand.
VOLLMER has been present in Thailand since 2017 through a representative office, so this dedicated branch constitutes another company milestone in Southeast Asia.
